GIS Services

Everything on our map, inside ArcGIS and QGIS

Live warnings, incidents, hotspots, Possible Fire Ignitions and global near real-time satellite as standard WMTS, WMS and XYZ services, alongside our S2 basemap and 3D terrain. Connect in minutes with keys you create and revoke yourself.

ArcGIS Online showing the S2 true colour basemap of Australia with Bushfire.io warnings and incidents

Why GIS teams use it

One connection instead of a dozen feeds

Standard OGC services

WMTS 1.0.0, WMS 1.3.0 and XYZ tiles that work in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, FME and any web map. WFS 2.0 with the Data and API Access add-on.

One layer or every layer

Add the combined Bushfire.io layer exactly as our map shows it, or pick individual warnings, incidents, hotspots, ignitions and satellite products.

Self-service keys

Create a key per team or tool, choose its services and expiry, see when it was last used, and revoke it without disturbing anyone else.

Layers

What’s in the catalogue

Each layer has one name across WMTS, WMS and XYZ, shown under its title. WFS adds the feature data for analysis.

Connect

Paste one URL

Your Developers page lists your WMTS, WMS and WFS capabilities URLs and XYZ templates, ready to copy. Replace YOUR_KEY with an access key, add the connection, and drag layers onto your map.
  • ArcGIS Pro: Insert, Connections, New WMTS Server
  • ArcGIS Online: Add layer from URL
  • QGIS: Browser, WMS/WMTS, New Connection
  • ArcGIS Online XYZ: write {z}/{x}/{y} as {level}/{col}/{row}

Basemap included

Live layers over a current 10 m basemap

Put warnings and incidents over our cloudless quarterly Sentinel-2 mosaic, in true colour, colour infrared or NDVI, on the same key. Read vegetation along easements and around assets in the same view as the hazards.
S2 NDVI basemap showing transmission line easements through forest in the Snowy Mountains

Transmission easements near Talbingo, NSW, in NDVI. Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2026.

Questions, answered

Do I need Enterprise?
Yes. GIS Services are included with Bushfire.io Enterprise, which you can buy online or arrange with our team.
How current are the layers?
Warnings, incidents and roads update as agencies publish them. Near real-time satellite refreshes about every 10 minutes. The S2 basemap is rebuilt every quarter.
Can we put these layers on a public website?
The S2 basemap can be shown publicly with attribution. Live layers on public websites or apps need a separate arrangement, or a Cloud instance. Talk to us.
Can we get the raw data?
Yes. Feature data over WFS and the REST API comes with the Data and API Access add-on, and four-band Sentinel-2 archives are available on request.
