Uluru in 3D over the S2 true colour basemap

S2 Basemap · 2026 Q2

A current 10 m view, every quarter

A cloudless quarterly mosaic from Copernicus Sentinel-2, in true colour, colour infrared and NDVI from one surface-reflectance archive, over 3D terrain. On the same key as our live hazard layers, and ready for public apps.

Why it's different

Recent, consistent, and made for reading the land

Recent

Rebuilt every quarter, so this season’s clearing, burn scars and regrowth show up. Not a patchwork captured years apart.

Consistent

One sensor, one season, one processing chain. Neighbouring regions match, so comparisons across a network hold up.

Three views, one key

True colour, colour infrared and NDVI are rendered from the same four-band reflectance archive and served on one access key.

Use it in public

Show it in your own apps, on public websites and in public apps, with attribution.

See the difference

Vegetation you can actually read

NDVI and colour infrared turn subtle colour differences into clear signals: irrigated paddocks, harvested compartments, regrowth and stressed vegetation. Drag to compare.

NDVI: Pine plantations near Nangwarry, South Australia
True colour NDVI

Use cases

Built for the work you do on the ground

Easements and corridors, Snowy Mountains, NSW

NDVI

Easements and corridors

Track regrowth under lines and along pipelines every quarter.

Plantations and forestry, Green Triangle, SA

Colour infrared

Plantations and forestry

See harvested, replanted and maturing compartments at a glance.

Mine sites, Pilbara, WA

True colour

Mine sites

Pits, dumps, haul roads and rehabilitation, refreshed each quarter.

Paddocks and irrigation, Riverina, NSW

NDVI

Paddocks and irrigation

Paddock-scale vegetation condition across whole regions.

3D terrain

Ranges, gorges and craters, in 3D

Every view drapes over elevation: 5 m LiDAR across much of Australia and a 30 m global model elsewhere. Enterprise includes the elevation as Terrarium tiles for your own 3D maps.

Aerial and sub-metre imagery is the better choice for detail in towns and cities. The S2 basemap is built for recency and for reading vegetation across large areas.

Questions, answered

Why 10 m and not 50 cm?
Sub-metre imagery shows individual trees and buildings, but it is captured rarely and unevenly, so most of it is years old. At 10 m we can rebuild the whole map every quarter, consistently, with near-infrared for vegetation. For corridors, forestry, farms and land change, recency usually matters more than detail.
How do I buy it?
The S2 basemap is included with Bushfire.io Enterprise, which you can buy online. Need only the basemap, raw archives or a custom region? Talk to us.
Can I use it in a public app or website?
Yes, with attribution. Wherever it appears, show the credits above. See our Terms of Service.
Can I get the underlying data?
Yes. We keep four-band surface reflectance, not finished pictures, and can deliver it for your region each quarter as raw data or ready-made map tiles.
Can I see it before I buy?
Fly around it in 3D on our Satellite Map Explorer, or talk to us about an evaluation.
