Satellite Map Explorer
September 30, 2026
This demo shows off our Sentinel-2 basemap: A cloudless 10m mosaic from 2026 Q2 imagery, in true colour, colour infrared and NDVI, draped over elevation (5m Australia; 30m world) in 3D. Near real-time (~15m) geostationary imagery sits on top. Pick a place on the left and fly there, or move around yourself.

With Bushfire.io Enterprise, every layer on this map is yours to use:
- XYZ tiles for your own web and mobile maps, exactly as served here.
- WMTS and WMS for ArcGIS and QGIS, with self-service access keys. See How do I connect Bushfire.io to ArcGIS and QGIS?
- Elevation DEM as Terrarium XYZ tiles for 3D maps.
- Four-band archives (red, green, blue and near-infrared) for your region (or globe) each quarter, on request.
Talk to us about using it in your workflows, or sign up today (web).
How it Works
- Current, not years old. We rebuild the basemap every quarter, and the previous quarter fills any gaps. Aerial patchworks are often captured years apart; this is months old and consistent from one region to the next.
- One archive, three views. We store surface reflectance in four bands, not finished images. True colour, colour infrared and NDVI are rendered from the same data as each tile is requested, this lets brightness, contrast, gamma and saturation etc. be tweaked.
- Built and served in-house. Our own pipeline reprojects the imagery onto the web map grid, and Tiley, the tile server behind Bushfire.io, serves it alongside our fire, warning and satellite layers.
- Real terrain. Elevation comes from 5m LiDAR across much of Australia and a 30m global model elsewhere, so ranges, gorges and craters clearly show in 3D.
- Live on top. The near real-time layers are a global mosaic from Himawari-9, GOES-East, GOES-West and Meteosat, updated about every 10 minutes at roughly 500 m per pixel. See How-to use Satellite Imagery for what each product shows.
